Rant on Flying U.S. Airways
Warning: This is a rant (probably tl;dr for most). Feel free to ignore. Anyways, I am posting in flight to SLC, at 30k+ feet in the air. Gogo internet? AVOID flying US Airways. I’ve had an absolutely horrible experience thus far, all flights, this wasn’t isolated to just one flight (Providence, Charlotte, Atlanta, etc). I’ve been flying quite a bit lately too.Delta > South West > U.S. Airways (craptastic). They’ve been rude (oh your gate was changed to the other side of the airport, not my problem my company didn’t notify you), not on time, don’t care if you miss your flight because they book connecting flights soo close together (they’re magically late, but their connecting flights are surprisingly on time), not accommodating. On wards. The planes feel like they’re coming apart. I got an exit window and there was water coming from the window itself (raining outside). Like wtf? Red flag, right? My last connecting flight, they came over the intercom and asked all passengers if anyone had money to break a $20. Like really? Why in the hell are you selling items to customers and don’t have enough change for a $20? This isn’t a Domino’s delivery driver going to get robbed, people are paying hundreds to take this flight (first class, thousands). I literally lol’ed.
Exiting the plane, the flight attendants put on these snarky attitudes, in these overly high pitched voices “fly again with us soon”, as if they know exactly how you’re going to have to literally run to not miss your connecting flight. Yea, I am grumpy, haven’t eaten anything in 7 hours, due to my 50 minute layover, disappearing due to “congestion” at the airport.

Providence & Newport, Rhode Island
The more I work in advertising, the more I begin to detest certain commercial ploys. In fact, I will proactively avoid ever having Progressive because of Flow. Next to seeing news of Aliens in the news having made contact, I’d like to hear about the drunken rage of Flow having landed her annoying ass in jail, permanently. OR, like Geico, they start dropping her ass like the Gecko. Either way, rant over.Want to see the matrix? Been working a ton with batch files at work. Here’s a fun one:

Been watching a lot of TED Talks. Here are some of my favs. so far:
Brené Brown – The Power of Vulnerability
https://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_on_vulnerabilityI’ve soo struggled with this in the past and still do, however, knowing the root of the struggle will definitely help me tackle it in the future.
Ken Robinson – How Schools Kill Creativity
https://www.ted.com/talks/ken_robinson_says_schools_kill_creativityI found this fascinating on how to talks to our inherit “given gifts” and how, in short, we are pigeon holed into going a certain way in our life, career wise, creativity wise, money wise, etc.
I loved the take he brings. Soo thought inspiring and it really makes one reflect, what is it that I could of been capable of?

23andme.com, professional development, travel, app. development and more.
Well I took the dive. Paid $99 and have sent off my saliva to have it analyzed. Basically, in short, I am going to find out where my true ancestry is derived from. Brown hair, blue eyes, tall…my features. Where does it come from? I know it’s of European decent, but what else? Possible traces of Neanderthal? If the FDA one day pulls its head out of its ass, maybe I’ll find what I’m more prone to be ailed by in my old age and prepare for it. I’ll post updates with what I find. I find the chromosome analyzation absolutely fascinating. Check out the video here:https://www.youtube.com/user/23andMe

In my professional life, I’ve gone through some other big changes. I brought in my first statement of work, to which was one of, if not the biggest, revenue generating contracts for the quarter for the company I work for. Pretty dang excited by that. Also, I will soon travel to Providence, Rhode Island for my next big contract. Wow. Just 10 years ago, I was just getting into S.U.U. Also, for work possible in May, I will be traveling on contract to the United Kingdom.
Working from home has some challenges, but now that I have my office set up, I’ve become much, much more productive.
With regards to my side job, I am greatly considering re-hauling my other site now as well, www.advisership.com. I love the idea and the more I explore the opportunity of turning it into a consulting firm. I am narrowing my focus as well.
I am torn by where I want to go with my Android App. development. There are comparable IT apps out with my core idea, but I still want to create Gracestone App. in dedication to my grandmother. I absolutely love the idea as well. I don’t care if others have had similar ideas, it’s not what I have in mind. 🙂
My leg piece is almost finished. One more appointment with my artist and it should be done. I’ve been considering turn my half sleeve on my arm into a full sleeve as well, with a Kraken tearing into a ship. I love the idea. I’ve been playing around with it for months now. We will see where I go with it.
Finished paying off my car, three months early. Excited to be done with that.
Deactivated Facebook. Only close friends and family have really noticed. I mainly used it as a music blog and posting weird interesting news as well as keeping tabs on relatives.
There’s a lot more to post,..but I’ll hold for now.

On a long enough timeline. The survival rate for everyone drops to zero.
Such a thought provoking idea. Makes you want to stop worrying soo much. Relax a little bit more. I know the older me, will eventually thank the younger me.As I mature, there are things I often find myself letting go of. Somethings have been easier then others…I’ve also started to embrace ideals that I once thought, too burdensome.
This has been the mantra that I’ve lived by. This simple poetic take on life has shaped me, this is Desiderata by Max Ehrmann:
“Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.”
Max Ehrmann, “Desiderata”.

Adobe’s Discover becoming “Ad Hoc Analysis”
At first, I wasn’t a fan…but conceptually the naming change does make sense, especially for those just starting to learn the tool. It also fits better (naming convention wise) with Adobe’s other tools. I probably won’t get it down and call it by it’s new found name for some time, but I digress…I watched “Discover 3” new videos by Tim Lott, a previous co-worker at Adobe, and I have to say…it was a bit creepy at first. Haha, I kept wanting to tell him…Tim….blink! It’s like his eyes are frozen in place and the rest of his head moves… 🙂

Random thoughts…ideas…
Here I am…31 years old and still listening to Hardcore and Metal like I am in my teens. I don’t know if I will ever “grow” out of it. Just too many memories, both good and bad.I am transitioning into a new role at my day job, a work at home role. Professional Services Consultant. This is on top of my consulting job/llc I am running as well. It’s a bit much at times and I get physically exhausted from being soo mentally exhausted.
It’s been taking a bit of a toll on me, but the learning and the extra income is just too good to pass up. Sacrifice now, so I am better off later, I say.
It’s been “fun”, a learning process all in itself. It’s becoming more and more apparent I need my own home. I need my own at home office. I need and want to set up a server room, or at least get some rack space. I need to also learn better to virtualize some servers as well.
Lately I’ve been considering buying into some Bitcoin servers, for Bitcoin mining (for passive income). The ideology is very interesting and growing on me.
